Our Specialized Services
-
Autism and Neurodiverse Relationship-Based Speech Therapy
I provide relationship-based speech therapy for children on the autism spectrum and those with other neurodiverse profiles. Utilizing the DIR Floortime methodology and play-based therapy, our sessions are child-led and focus on building meaningful connections, fostering engagement, and supporting developmental growth. My approach celebrates your child's unique strengths and communication style.
-
AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication)
For children with limited verbal communication, I offer comprehensive support in exploring and utilizing various AAC methods. This includes sign language, gestures, low-tech communication boards, and high-tech devices like speech-generating devices (e.g., TouchChat, ProLoQuo2Go). Therapy focuses on empowering your child to express their wants, needs, and ideas effectively.
-
Early Language Development and Late Talkers
I provide support for young children who are reaching their language milestones later than expected. Therapy focuses on building foundational language skills, expanding vocabulary, and encouraging early communication through play-based activities.
-
Language Therapy (Expressive and Receptive)
I offer therapy to address both expressive language skills (e.g., forming sentences, telling stories) and receptive language skills (e.g., understanding directions, answering questions). Utilizing frameworks like Elizabeth Wiig's hierarchy of language development, therapy is tailored to improve your child's ability to understand and use language effectively.
-
Apraxia of Speech (Motor Speech Disorders)
I provide specialized therapy for children with motor speech disorders, including apraxia of speech. Utilizing techniques such as PROMPT and the Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol (with training in both), therapy focuses on improving motor planning and coordination for clear and intelligible speech.
-
Social Language/Pragmatics
Therapy focuses on developing essential social communication skills, such as taking turns in conversation, staying on topic, understanding non-verbal cues, and navigating social interactions effectively.

Understanding Speech Therapy and DIR Floortime
What is a Speech Language Pathologist?
A Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is a trained professional like myself who works with individuals of all ages who have difficulties with communication and swallowing. SLPs evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. I play a crucial role in helping people develop or regain their ability to communicate effectively, enabling them to participate more fully in everyday life.
What is DIR Floortime?
DIR Floortime is a developmental, individual difference, relationship-based approach that I use to support children's development, particularly those with autism and other developmental challenges. It focuses on following your child's lead, building on their interests, and fostering meaningful interactions to promote emotional, social, and cognitive growth. The "D" stands for Developmental (meeting your child at their current developmental level), the "I" for Individual Differences (understanding each child's unique sensory and processing styles), and the "R" for Relationship-based (emphasizing the power of connection in learning and development).
